Chains

The locks on the Leeds/Liverpool Canal have a great variety of mechanisms for operating the locks….here at Lock 2 on the Leigh Branch, there is a large winding unit with a long, strong chain to help open and close the gates!
I always love to see it after rainfall, when the links are glistening with raindrops.
