In the Lomond Hills

Walking with the club in the Lomond Hills of Fife today (not to be confused with Ben Lomond, our most southerly Munro). Weather was good, sunny at times, a lot of cloud, but dry all day.

We started with coffee and scones at the Leven Larder, and then walked from West Balgothrie along the farm road and then up on to beautiful grass paths, with lovely views of the fields in all shades of green and yellow, and of course Loch Leven, all the way up Bishop Hill, then down Glen Vale and Glen Lomond out to Wester Balgedie, distance 7.5 miles. The walk down Glen Vale is really wonderful, a lovely grassy track with views of fine rock escarpments on the right.

In my picture we are just coming off Bishop Hill, and you can see East and West Lomond on either side of the picture. The white flowers are bog cotton, or cotton grass, and it looked pretty waving in the wind. Also saw mountain pansies and several types of mushrooms.

We finished in the pub as usual for some drinks and chat, before heading home.

Have just had our dinner and about to relax with a glass of wine in front of the TV.
