Orchid

It's nearly one year since Pickle our dog passed away.  When he died, our dog walker brought us a lovely orchid.  I notice today that it has started flowering again.  I'm not really one for superstition or such like, but it does seem fitting that it is starting to flower again, 4 days before Pickle's anniversary.

He died about a month after I received my cancer diagnosis.  He had a sudden acute stomach bug with sickness and he lost control of his bowels .  He spent 4 days in the vets on fluids and meds but was not getting better and so the vets did further investigation.   They eventually found that his lungs were full of what they believed to be tumours, probably spread from the mast cell tumours he had suffered with.   He passed away 2 days before his 15th birthday.  I miss him so very, very much.
