Waitangi Weekend

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellow,

Today it is Waitangi Day and I kept forgetting it was Tuesday all day. It just FELT like Saturday.

This year Waitangi Day is more controversial on account of we now have a right wing government, elected in part on promises to "review" the terms of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, which basically enshrines Māori rights to self-governance alongside us interlopers.

We all know what they mean by "review", right?

As usual, it's a government employing the old "don't look at the real issues, here's a FAKE issue!" tactic while they give tax breaks to the already wealthy and undo environmental protections. 

My only hope is that they've been so flat-footed and hopeless just 3 months in, they'll keep this up for the next 2 and a half years and accomplish NOTHING.
