Do my thighs look big on this?
An unexpected visitor yesterday evening interrupted my sorting through photos taken at the disused rail line, so I'm now back-blipping. This little beetle grabbed my attention despite plenty of butterflies and hover-flies to photograph. I now think it is Oedemera nobilis and I have seen it called Swollen-thighed Beetle, Thick-legged Flower Beetle and Fat-legged Beetle in various insect books. It is quite common in the south of the UK. This one is a male - the females do not indulge in extreme body-building.
