Huh?

I'm sure I've mentioned that, a million years ago, I trained and worked as a chef. I can cook. I also recently blipped a shot of my new slow cooker. Today I glanced at the instruction booklet that came with the slow cooker and noticed the recipes, so I was eager to check them out. One thing that they all have in common is that they only use the medium setting - it has high, medium and low - but what really caught my eye was the timings. I'm not aware of anywhere else that the cooking time can be somewhere in a range of four hours. This wasn't the only one with such a span. Cooking isn't about scientific precision but this is at the far end of "that's close enough".
