Aconite fever

Every year, I ask Mo if these flowers are something-or-other* kind of plant. "No," she says. "You always ask me that. They're aconites." 

Ah yes, I think. Silly of me. Must remember that.

Every year.

But this year I learned something that made them more interesting. These cheery little flowers are actually toxic. And if bees collect aconite nectar, their honey is toxic too. 

Worth remembering if you're ever planning a very patient rural murder. 

* The word "aconite" has driven the other flower name out of my head. But if form's anything to go by, I'll have remembered it by next year.
