Victorians

Following on from the paint fiasco last night where one of the men showed us how paint is mixed……I do like to learn. He kept using the phrase…..every day is a school day…….anyway…..today we went to learn about the Victorians.
The pharmacy was fascinating.
The post office is always interesting.
We learnt about candle making this time which was new.
In the shop the lady spoke to the girls about the need to reuse things, especially the golden syrup tin.
This is a photo of my foot next to a genuine elephant foot which was used as an umbrella stand and still is today. When I asked, why oh why?!?! The lady in the photography section explained it showed wealth and was basically a means to show off. How very sad.
It was a lovely busy day which ended with the girls having an hour in the playground. The work on the media wall was immense today but we still need a colour!!!!!!
