Diary of an Edinburgher

East, west, hame’s best

Went to bed at 6 o'clock last night, woke up at 8 o'clock. 8pm, that is... then went back to sleep till about 6am. A very slow start, but I took Archie round the block, noting the new holes dug up on the street that they took a year to lay the new setts... will they replace the setts properly, or just slap a patch of tarmac down as they have done in the centre of the Old Town (eg Victoria Street). I think I know...

I then watched the Scotland v Wales rugby Six Nations match, before I accidentally found out the score. What a game - amazing how the same blokes can be so different each half. Scotland were very lucky to come away with a win, and didn't really deserve it, winning by one only point after leading 27-0 at half time.

I wanted to replace my old(ish) iPad Pro with a smaller, lighter model. It was so heavy in hand luggage (ready for airport security). So Archie and I went down to the Apple shop. I had a most helpful chap, Dave, who showed me just how many photos were taking up  memory. But he found out that one app (Photoshop Fix, which I use a lot) had been saving every single photo on the app, as well as in my photos. And the photos were huge. And I'd had it since 2015! We deleted it, and immediately a tone of storage was released.

Archie was a good boy in the shop. Dave had had a dog called Archie, sadly with us no more, but he showed me his new dog, a lovely black lab. But I inadvertently bought the same colour as JR's, so I may need to go back and change it.

Archie gave his usual 'Oh, it's you...' welcome, but he's back to his usual cuddly self today. I eventually got my suitcase unpacked, and the cases have been put away till next time. But meanwhile - it IS nice to be home.

10° today, not too cold…
