A random act of kindness
Someone’s hung a fat-filled coconut half in a tree in the town square. I was so pleased to see it, the only birds you see in the square usually are feral pigeons in large numbers, and equally feral children entertaining themselves by running at the pigeons shouting loudly so that they fly away in fright. Starlings take over at various times in the year, and I like to see their iridescent feathers and hear their bubbling twittering sound.
You do get the occasional person who feeds the birds a few crumbs, but I’ve never seen anything like this. It was getting a lot of attention, and it made my day to see it.
