ICELAND DAY 1

#this was our first glimpse of Iceland from the plane….(no filter used)

We left home at 4AM….aarrgghh!!
Parked easily, checked in no problems…flight delayed (not idea for how long) so we went for breakfast (and bought some sandwiches for lunch later). No delay!!! rush to the get and literally walked straight into plane and off. We slept for most of the flight (especially after I started with a glass of bubbly at 7 AM!!)

Slight confusion about transfer but got coach to terminal then another bus for 10 mins and a 5 min walk to hotel.

Then chaos….somehow 1 room had been cancelled. Andy’s brother and SIS thought it was deliberate as we didn’t really want them to come on our holiday! Haha! After a few panicked phone calls it was sorted. The hotel staff were excellent and gave us free drinks vouchers.
After our sandwich lunch we had a lovely walk around the harbour and found the rooftop Sky Bar to use our vouchers and just sat and enjoyed the view over the ocean and snowy mountains. Afterwards we all had a snooze…our 4am start was catching up with us.
This evening we went for a cheapy burger meal near the hotel then walked up to the cathedral. It was now minus 7 degrees and a hot chocolate before bed was very welcome.
