Signs of Spring

After breakfast Mr HB kindly drove me up the hill to the woods above our house where I went in search of the usual beautiful displays of Snowdrops.  Had a lovely walk and even negotiated two large stiles in a fairly ladylike fashion, glad no one was around though! And then there they were, as beautiful a display as ever together with some more lovely signs of Spring, animated birdsong, Catkins and buds appearing everywhere.  Walked back home, mostly downhill apart from the last rather long drag up which I managed with a couple of stops.  Met a few different friends on the way and signed a Petition against the proposed pulling down of some of the beautiful woodland and in its place the erection of some 90 industrial units and further housing. 
 
Breakfast this morning was poached eggs on spinach and Italian herbed ham.  Mr HB said he had read somewhere for a quick poached egg you put an egg in a measuring jug and added sufficient water to cover the egg.  Put in microwave and cook for 30 seconds.  On inspection the egg didn’t appear to be cooked so Mr HB put it back in for another 20 seconds, 10 seconds in there was a loud bang and , oh dear, the egg yolk had blown clean out of the jug and what was left of the white was splattered everywhere.  Ha! Ha! Ha! I said, good job I cooked 4 eggs my usual way in a pan of water on the stove!!  There was a lot of cleaning up to do, but after all that was done and I’d prepped dinner, chicken casserole in the slow cooker I was definitely up for a spot of fresh air.
