WORKIN' THE WHIZZER

High School Athletic Conference wresting tournament. The wrestler on top, in the 190# (86kg) weight class, is working a move called the Whizzer to avoid being taken down by his opponent.  Eventually, the man on top (from our school) won the match by a point decision....6-3 if I recall correctly.

It was our little school's turn to host the tournament which typically rotates among the conference schools.  This year, we coopted with the local University and held the meet on their campus.  We got a larger, more easily controlled venue and they got some exposure to local wrestlers who "might" want to wrestle for Lakeland University.  It was a good move both ways.

Our school finished in the middle of the pack.  We had one champion in the 113# (51kg) weight class; one 2nd place 144# (65kg) class and several 3rd, 4th and 5th place finishers.  Overall we did pretty well.
