Coles's Memorial
Leaving 'one thousand pounds' in 1807 William Cole provided for the upkeep of his memorial and the poor. It may be that nothing has ever been spent of the memorial - it is just a gilded board in the church. The Cole's legacy has been grouped together with other similar bequests over time and now provides grants for local young people's education support. Today the Hampton Parochial Charity made two grants to students totalling around 'two thousand pounds' to allow one to start 'stage-school' and the other teacher training. Thank you Mr Cole!
