Cosmos
The lake is still frozen, for the most part, except for 6-8 feet along the shore. Even there ice floats beneath the surface. A frothy brown scum had been pushed along to one end in waves, which at first I thought frozen until I saw it move back and forth, I assume driven by the wind.
I had in mind to capture the patterns it made, but in colour the result was not appealing and the image very flat. Abstracting with black and white allowed me a latitude to work with the contrast and bring out details.
The final edit reminds me of shots taken from telescopes in space when they announce the discovery of a new black hole or the nearest potentially habitable planet.
