Tiny Surprise
Two years ago, I dug up a few tubers of the winter aconites in my mother's garden and planted them near our beech hedge. Last year, I didn't see a single leaf of the plants, and assumed that they had died in the dry, hot summer of 2022. But this morning when I filled our bird feeders, I discovered these tiny flowers under the hedge.
It's a small thing, but it made me happy. I hope for them to thrive and multiply, as they can form very pretty carpets of yellow flowers once they are established.
If you look closely, you see raindrops on the little leaves. The morning was cloudy and wet, but later the sun came out. As we are both working from home, P and I took our break at the same time, and went for a short walk together.
