Pheasants Crossing

Getting cheeky at Steall Falls

Today L and I decided to go for a walk up Glen Nevis to the Steall Falls, as I had never been there before.

To start off with, the weather wasn't particularly nice. In typical Scottish fashion it rained all day and the midges were out in force. This made it even scarier crossing the Steall "Bridge" (which is really just three strands of wire, one to walk on and two to hold on to) as the water was high and fast flowing (oh and all the tourists taking pictures of us crossing didn't help)!

Then we hit the bogs. . .

As I had boots on, and L only had trainers, I offered to give him piggyback through a particularly muddy bog. Picture the scene, a 5ft small girl trying to carry a 6ft 3 tall guy through mud and water. I thought I was doing quite well, until before either of us knew what was happening, my foot got sucked down into the mud and we both fell over.

As you can see though, it was worth it when we finally managed to get to the falls. Because of all the rain the waterfall was pretty spectacular, and made the muddy wet journey very worthwhile.
