Old gold

Since moving to the sub-tropics, we’re slowly becoming familiar with many plants we’ve never grown before. Palms are very popular garden plants around here, and our garden includes lots of Golden Cane Palms, native to Madagascar. At this time of year, the older fronds turn a dramatic golden colour and fall off the ‘tree’. We’ve learned that a crashing sound from the garden during the night is probably a falling frond.
