Potatoes enough for an army

Mitch over for breakfast, so I make an omelette. Lovely to have him over and start Christmas off with a bang. He’s alone with his mum tonight – it would have been great to have them over. Gave him his gifts – including a bottle of “rhum arrange” made with the apples from his own garden.

11:30am, later than planned, over to John’s. Day of two halves: first part is appalling: everyone disappears and I’m stuck doing nothing. Can’t settle – and have nothing to do. Second half is brilliant, though. I dive into cooking dinner, and Steffie arrives with her new boyfriend Marcus. Haven’t seen her for ages and never met him – both are wildly on form. T leaves early to visit her mum in hospital – and then to sing carols.

We also sang carols, which was fun. And played Telestrations, which might have been better. Merry Christmas everyone.
