Frog Level

This mural is on an old building in the town of Prosperity. I had to stop at the light to turn left so I had a great view of it. When they painted this mural the town removed a big row of oleander bushes that bloomed so beautifully in the summer.

I think I liked the flowers more but the mural is eye-catching.

Why Frog Level? Way back in the 1800s a very intoxicated resident passed out at a nearby pond which supposedly had many frogs in it. When he woke up it was told that the frogs were croaking “frog level”. It was his drunken story that became the name of this community. Until the name was changed to Prosperity in 1873 per the town inhabitants. Who wants to live in Frog Level?

An early drive out to drop off Jerry’s truck for service was a good way to get my photo for today!
