Luton Hoo

We didn’t realise how significant Luton Hoo is!

After a top class breakfast, we headed out to explore both the main ‘house’ as well as the grounds. Both were stunning.

Some of the things we’ve learnt:
Queen Elizabeth was there for her honeymoon.
Churchill delivered a victory speech to 110,000 on the terrace.
Tanks were built down the road in Luton, on the site that is now a Vauxhall site.
Many films had scenes taken here - including a few Bond films and 4 Weddings & a Funeral and many more.
The grounds are epic and have been used for so many films including Warhorse and Wonder woman.
And they had open water swimming here until last year :-)
And Elbows would love to play golf here.

The whole thing is beautiful and we had beautiful weather to explore it in. We even sat by the lake and read for a bit (in January!!).
