The mystery of rockpools
Domestic work in the morning followed by a bit of well work followed by a need to get out but not do any brambling! I ambled around the circuit - lingering in Kitchen Cove where the tide was out and the rockpools revealed. There was a lot going on - all the anemones were expectantly waving their tentacles and winkles were making very slow progress hither and tither. I was surprised to see little blue specks on the anemones and google has helped me find out what was going on. These are beadlet anemones and the blue beads are acrorhagi full of stinging cells ready to do their worst if another anemone gets too close! They all looked quite peaceful here and jumbled up amicably. There was also an orange specimen.
We've just watched two very good films. Treshnish recommended The Eight Mountains : a wonderful slow study of male friendship with some gorgeous photography in the Italian Alps and Nepal. (Italian) Forgotten Love was also very enjoyable - a slow burner with more rich scenery, an unusual plot and convincing acting (Polish). Perfect for relaxing Winter evenings.
