Westerly Winds*
Luckily the strong winds hadn't picked up by the time Minty and I had our walk at Buchanan Smithy this afternoon.
Yesterday Nancy was raving about the Burns Night celebration that was on BBC on Thursday, so I watched it on iPlayer. There were several good items on the programme, but the one that moved me the most was a song I'd never heard before, called 'Now Westlin' Winds'*, sung by jazz singer Georgia Cecile.
I was so taken with the tune that I searched for it again on YouTube and found the recording by Georgia, but also a mesmerising version by Rioghnagh Connolly and Band of Burns. Dick Gaughan has also done a version.
Listen here if you're interested. The words are here if interested.
