June Challenge - Primitive/Primal

Day 22 of TerriG's June daily challenge - Primitive/Primal

A bit of a back blip after a busy weekend.

I went digging in the old camera gear to get a primitive (by today's standards) camera. This trusty Praktika (cost about £50, including 50mm f:2.8 prime lens) gave me 15 years of reliable service before being supplanted by a Minolta X700. It's been sat in a box for I don't know how many years.

As you can see it has a fastest shutter speed of 1/500sec - by todays standards very slow, only full stop differences, no choice of 1/2 or 1/3 stop changes, and you had to take the film out, get it processed (or process it yourself) before you got to see the results, and unless you wrote down the settings etc. you had no idea when anything was taken or how you achieved the results you got. White balance was a matter of change the film or put a correction filter on the front (or for colour print, let the lab guess what it should have been)

It all seems rather primitive now.
