Pest or pleasure?

I don't normally go around taking photos of the common purple rhododendrons that take over large tracts of ground in these parts, but this afternoon, in the ground between the Arboretum-Puck's Glen track and the bird hide, I caught sight of several new bushes. And yes, they were demonstrating how quickly they can colonise an area, but they also made me aware of how lovely they are when their blooms are fresh and they are not covered in years' worth of leathery dark leaves.

So here you have it. A baby rhododendron bush, beguiling as perhaps all babies are...
