The Trojan Zebra

It's been a busy old day. It was daddy daughter day. We went to soft play in Laurencekirk where Flicky played hard. We then went to visit Flickys nana and granda and the dogs. She loves those 2 dogs. They are a bit indifferent towards her.

After a trip to the shops where Felicity refused to sit in the trolley seat l and only in the actual trolley. And then she tried to climb out multiple times. And the she ran about the car park refusing to get back in the car. It was a long day. Still fun tho!

But what's that got to do with a zebra pictured above?

Earlier today I made a joke about Greeks bearing gifts. This confused Mrs G. She had never heard this phrase before. I tried to tell her the story of the Trojan horse. But I missed a couple of details. So I asked Chat GPT to tell the story. And I changed the horse to a zebra, mainly because i couldn't find Felicity's toy horse. But I could find her toy zebra.

Alright, let's give this ancient tale a wild twist! In a time long ago, in the vibrant city of Troy, there was an epic showdown between the Trojans and the Greeks. The Greeks, being the mischievous masterminds they were, decided to switch things up and crafted a colossal wooden zebra.

Picture this: a zany, larger-than-life zebra statue with black and white stripes standing proudly on four wooden legs. The Greeks, like true pranksters, left it outside Troy's gates with a note saying, "Just a friendly gift – no strings attached, we promise!"

Thinking they had won the mythical zebra lottery, the Trojans couldn't resist the temptation. They rolled the oversized wooden zebra into their city, dreaming of Trojan safaris and zebra-themed parades. Little did they know, they were about to become the stars of the greatest surprise party in ancient history.

Under the cover of darkness, sneaky Greek soldiers hidden inside the hollow zebra crept out like stealthy circus performers. They swung open the city gates, letting the Greek army sneak back in like a shadowy carnival in the night.

When the sun rose, Troy woke up to the sound of a bizarre party – Greeks dancing, playing zebra charades, and munching on snacks in their streets. The Trojans rubbed their eyes and thought, "Did we miss the memo for this toga-themed shindig?"

And that, my curious friends, is how the saying "beware of Greeks bearing gifts" came to life. It's like a cautionary tale for when someone hands you a colossal wooden zebra – maybe check for surprise party crashers! So, kiddos, the lesson here is: always be on the lookout for unexpected striped gifts, especially if they're suspiciously wooden. Because in the world of ancient pranks, even a zebra can be a secret weapon!
