Weather Forecasting

From where I sit in the Dower House I can just see the dark shape of the Pentland Hills rising in the distance behind the tenements of Marchmont. On a changeable day like today, it is possible to predict from the shade and definition of the hills the weather arriving on the strong south west wind. I have watched them disappear from view and minutes pass before a pall of rain sweeps over the Meadows. At other times they appear dark and  clear and the sun comes out. If there is rain farther off, they appear misty and ill defined.

I managed a sweep of the Library and Lidl shelves during a sunny interlude when the world sparkled as though it were spring, but as I write this the Pentlands appear misty in the distance and the world looks grey and wintry outside.

As I walked home and realised not one photo had been taken all day , I looked up from the pavement where I was watching my feet avoiding the uneven paving and the potholes on the roadway and noticed this quirky view of the windows at the end of the Museum extension. Blip in the can as they say.

I have just looked up again at the distant hills and they look dark and clear once more. The sun is attempting a last fling before it sets.
