Freckles

Freckles - part of the longer name for this lovely winter-flowering clematis (longer version: Clematis cirrhosa var. purpurascens).  "Commonly known as Virgin's Bower", I also discover from a bit of Googling.
I spent a bit of time in the garden today, and had time to enjoy the Freckles blossoms.  It's an evergreen climber, and appears to be undeterred by any winter weather.  You do have to stop it colonising the entire garden though.  It expands quite unobtrusively, with its delicate leaves and tendrils, until one day you discover that it's enveloping all its neighbours.
