Correcting charts

An experience a few weeks ago when we couldn't find a mark (buoy) off the coast near Clacton reminded me it was time to correct the charts.
Sure enough the beacon has been removed, which explains why we couldn't find it.
I should do the corrections in purple - but felt tip pen rubs off and I can't find a purple permanent ball point pen - any ideas?
