Sally Mair - Loving life

Men at Work

Today was a real calm before the storm. There were rain showers off and on through the day, but no wind and it was so much warmer.
I had bought a couple of tops from the charity shop in the village but sadly neither fitted so I took them back.
The shop were providing live entertainment today, lol.
This team of four men were replacing the huge plate glass window which had a crack in it. They had large sucker handles to help lift the glass, two handles and two men on each side of the window. I had to leave after having fits of giggles as they tried to shout instructions to each other through the heavy glass which was still sealed in place. In the end the boss would leave his handle to his partner and walk to the shop door and round the front. He'd pass on his instructions to the outdoor team then come back and carry on trying to lift. They were at it for ages.
I hope the new glass is well fitted to withstand tonight's wind.
The rain at around 5pm tonight was horrendous. I was quite concerned at the thought of Katy cycling all the way across town from the hospital. I offered to go and get her and give her and her bike a lift but she said she'd be ok. I was glad to get a text to say she was safely home.
I meant to be early to bed tonight but failed. It's just before midnight and the wind is building up and whistling around the house. I've got my torch and battery lights to hand again and my earplugs to cut out the sound. I hope wherever you are the wind passes without causing any damage.
