Capt George Vancouver

This son of King's Lynn charted the west coast of America and part of Australia in the 1790s. His bronze statue was placed here in 2001 with various chains and an anchor in front of the old Customs House. The Great Ouse river is behind me and flows to The Wash.

The print on the plaque is only just readable from a few inches away so I could not reveal the lettering in this photo and still show the statue in all its glory I'm afraid.
