Some sun in morning then rain most of the day. Picked up coffee at Starbucks drive through. The barista told me he had made an extra latte and would I like. Oh yes! What a good thing- my replacement espresso machine is stuck in Portland due to the weather. No big deal. I can wait, Portland has really been hit hard by the storms. My grocery shop was very pleasant. The checker was close to my age and fun to talk to. . The little things mean so much. I had a good phone call with Nora. We discussed the review of a book which was in the Wall Street Journal. It is Arhoolie and by Chris Strachwitz. A German man who came to the YS after WWII and searched for the blues musicians he had heard on radio free Europe during the war. Nora had already bought the book for Glenn now she is sending a copy to me. It sounds so good. You can find Strachwitz’ obituary in the NYT in November of 2023
