Aptly named Mallards Lake
The predicted change in weather confronted us this morning. Grey and dull with smatterings of rain which persisted most of the day.
We did venture out for a walk, passing the eponymous Mallards Lake upon which were an exceptional number of mallards. Also tufted ducks, blackheaded gulls and swans. Still a little ice in the middle of the lake.
Quite a shock to learn that a couple in their 60s and their dog were killed by a car whilst walking down Thurnham Lane yesterday lunchtime. . It’s only a mile or so from where we live and a road we’ve walked up and down many times.
Went to see Doreen this afternoon. She seemed very tired and kept dropping asleep. We can only find one of her hearing aids. She can’t look after them and the care home staff don’t appear to be careful with them.
Edit: had a lovely time talking to Chris, Landon and Maddie when got back. Maddie said Hi and waved and made lots of animal noises. Landon was busy building Lego then riding around on Maddie’s bike
