Grey Heron

There were 11 heron today. Most of them were on the slope but the little female (pictured) and an adult male met me at the gate had a feed then flew off to the slope. It is impossible to count them with ease when you are walking amongst them but my neighbour's daughter was walking her dog and told me she counted 11. It may have been 12 as the male from the clearing (extra) may not have been on the slope but I suspect he was. The chick was back chasing everything in sight but stayed clear of the little female who also kept away from the chick.  There is still patches of ice but it does appear to be thawing.
A fair number of crows around who all got biscuits
