Levelling
Back blip on 20 January 2024.
I said that I would upload some backblips from last year to fill in a few of the gaps, and in particular I will include some that show progress with the extension.
In July we had Lewis with us for two weeks, he’s the grandson of Pete the builder, and here Pete is doing the levelling of the footings for the extension before the concrete pour. The wide angle of the camera phone makes the extension look enormous, but it really isn’t that big and it is only allowed to be one story high. The extension replaces the old outbuildings, and the ridge height is constrained to be exactly the same as the outbuilding ridge. This is so the view out of the first floor windows of the neighbour’s house is not compromised in any way. In fact, by bringing the new ridge forward and having a hipped L shape, the light to the neighbour’s windows is improved.
Pete had the option of using Eduardo’s laser level, but he prefers the old ways. They’ve served him well over forty+ years, so why change now? And we later established that his levels were absolutely bob-on - as Pete would say.
