Hammer Time

At Taliesin West, you can experience a side of Scottsdale and the Sonoran Desert unlike any other by exploring Frank Lloyd Wright’s winter home and desert laboratory. 
If you look closely, you can see a hammer embedded in the concrete and stone structure.  During construction, one of the apprentices was always losing his tools. To give him a 'ribbing' his hammer was placed into the cement. There was of course concern that Mr. Wright would not approve. But in this instance he had a sense of humor.
