Sliding and Wobbling
There was rain overnight, which froze hard when the skies cleared in the early hours of the morning. I waited a few hours before daring to head out but the roads and pavements and paths outside were sheets of ice. It's hard to recall such lethal conditions. However, as I climbed, it was soon obvious that what had arrived lower down as rain had fallen as snow up on the moor. On the top, there was at least three inches of the stuff, lovely and crispy and grippy. Running over the buried flagstones was a delight. It was a winter wonderland for miles. The only problem was getting down again. I went sliding a few times, only falling once, with no damage done.
Loads of pictures taken but I was most taken by these tracks at the top of the Keighley Gate road. There were some adventurous folk about. The tracks indicate quite a bit of wobbling around. The patterns are mysterious. I don't quite understand them!
