Change of plan
I was up early this morning to go to Southmead Hospital to join the staff Fastball training but fate intervened. As I was leaving and about to deice the car (the windows were frozen solid and they drop very slightly when the door opens and closes) I heard Jo. Beau had been ‘sick’ all night but then heard my voice and was miraculously better. By then it was too late for him to go to doggy day care as planned and for me to get to the training so he ended up in with me while Jo did some things.
What was interesting was Beau lying right in front of the door to stop me going. I was annoyed to miss the training but then thought later when we were chilling maybe he sensed that I was safer at home today. He voted with his feet again when I took him back, walked out and back into our house! He sat and watched me do the ironing and then curled up to sleep. He did go home later.
It also gave me time to create my powerpoint slides for tomorrow. I’m going to an event at a local community centre with researchers and a hospital consultant to talk about living with dementia, diagnosis and research projects. I’m quite nervous.
