Daffodils

Today's the day ....................... to succumb

I know they've been available from supermarkets and the like for weeks now - but I just can't bring myself to buy daffodils until we're at least in the second half of winter.

It's just because I love them so much!  For me, they signify that spring is here and for a few weeks they will be everywhere spreading their sunshine.  Eventually, of course, you'll be able to buy them all the year round - just as you can now with tomatoes, new potatoes, asparagus, strawberries and all the other things that also used to be available at a certain time of the year, just for a while.

I haven't got a leg to stand on though, because I have succumbed to the temptation to buy all those mentioned above (well apart from the strawberries) throughout the year.  I've held out until yesterday with the daffodils - but the ones above are now to be found in a vase on my kitchen table ...................!
