Not so Distant Hills
A sprinkling of snow on the tops this morning and the wonderful clear winter light drew me to venture a little further than usual with Meg. Also earlier in the day when the light was brightest. An uplifting wander at Llanegryn woods and Meg got to have a run in the big meadow below the trees. Happiness all round. The wide angle makes Cader look much further away than it is.
A day full of messages and distractions, all but one were happy and positive. After a slow start it was soon time to head out to pay my last respects to one of two Talyllyn stalwarts who left us around the turn of the year. I could not join the coach party heading for the service in Aberystwyth as Ruth had a consultant phone appointment early afternoon but joined a sizeable crowd outside Wharf station as the funeral cortege passed. Dave was one of life's good guys, quiet, patient, unflappable, knowledgeable and reliable. Involved in various aspects of the Railway operation, including latterly in management, seemingly forever, he will be much missed on all fronts. One of a kind.
Ruth's appointment went well. No resolution yet wrt her gut problems but everything that can be done is being done. We're quietly hopeful of better times ahead. Fifteen months after we first reported the problem, BCC finally got someone out to fix her gutters today ... although we wait for rain to test them! A friend from childhood, staying locally, came round and we walked with Meg down and along the prom at sunset which was nice. Too much to talk about having seen little of each other for a long time. Tilda arrived for a short railway volunteering visit and I'm now cooking tea for me and Jamie. Meals on Wheels shortly :-)
