Iwo Jima
What a fun day I had, bouncing around all over the city from one thing to another. Thank goodness for friends who understand I get bored easily (can you say "ADD..."). There were so many shots to chose from that it was almost frustrating.
This shot is from the WWII Iwo Jima memorial. My father in law actually fought there as part of a Marines contingent. My goal was much more mundane: tonite was "big moon" night (I'm sure there's a technical term for that) and I thought it would make a good spot. I was wrong (though you can see the moon in between the statue and the kid) but I liked the juxtaposition of the kid against the statue (and I used the kid's body to block an annoying street light too...) :)
Long exposure to get a bit of the flag moving with the slight breeze as well as some of the details of the statue, as it was dark by the time I took this.
