Tarronga Zoo Sydney

The buses are easy to use, to just ‘tap on’ and ‘tap off’ using your debit card, and they come along every 10 minutes.
We went by bus from Balgowlah to spit junction, then walked around the corner to take another bus down military road to Taronga Zoo. The zoo was surprisingly quiet, had lovely back drop of Sidney skyscrapers, and the animals were a bit lethargic or invisible as it was 28 degrees and humid but after a couple hours it became windy and cooler. Highlights were the seals who did a show with their keepers, the giraffes viewed from above them, the gorillas, the dingoes, the koalas and little penguins. And the capybaras.
The lions were all sprawled together in a heap, and the tiger was lying on top of a landrover. The meerkats didn’t bother standing up straight. The succulent vegetation and fern trees, pathways, and cafe were all very nice.
Next we took the bus to Manly where I enjoyed a lovely swim in the Manly Cove beach, in the enclosed netted area, viewing the ferries coming and going and children jumping into the water from the pontoon by the wharf.
We had a lovely coffee and jug of water at the Bavarian cafe sitting in a comfy cushioned bench overlooking the bay until the rain started.
