Canadas Dry On Ice

When we walked round the lake yesterday it was covered in thin ice. As we turned the corner by the large willow the pair of Canada geese, which had been grazing, were spooked. They immediately flew onto the ice which splintered into shards. Much struggling and honking followed. I felt sorry for them.

Today we were more careful and gave them a very wide berth. They eventually decided to go onto the lake and the ice was thick enough to hold them. We watched them preening and having a nice drink from a small area that was ice free.
