Old Life and New Life
Well that was a non-stop day from start to finish!
Out for coffee at eleven with friends, home for a quick lunch, then drive to Rayleigh (my childhood home town) for a dental check-up and hygienist. I have been going to the same surgery since 1964 - at nearly 60 years, we think I must be one of their longest-standing patients. Anyway, all good, no problems and lovely gleaming teeth. It was twilight by the time I emerged. Holy Trinity at the top of the High Street is a beautiful church, and the scene in my photo has hardly changed since I was a little girl. Rayleigh was a lovely place to grow up, and is still in my opinion the nicest town in the area.
Back behind the wheel for a dash home with the commuters, a very rushed dinner and then straight out again for the inaugural meeting of the Tiptree Page Turners book club. None of us had ever met before (we set it up via the local Facebook community group), but we had a fun evening getting to know each other. Careers ranged from a florist to a special needs teacher and an illustrator, so we have a good mix of ladies. There are about a dozen of us in the group, but unfortunately four couldn’t make it. First book is ‘The Midnight Library’ by Matt Haig, which I haven’t read before.
I’m feeling positive about how this new phase of life is shaping up.
