Dead deer with bullet hole

This pregnant doe was down and dying on the trail when she was found. Police were summoned and they mercifully ended it with a shot to the head. It was suggested that heat exhaustion drove her to the river for water, sadly to no avail. Nature is a heartless mother; all wild animals die violent deaths.
