Dymchurch

As the weather was set fair with plenty of sunshine albeit accompanied by a cold breeze we drove down to Dymchurch for a walk along the beach.

Except we couldn’t walk on the beach as it was approaching high tide when we set off and only an hour after high tide as we walked back. That restricted us to the prom on the sea defences.

Beautiful day even so with a silvery light on the way out to New Romney and a golden light behind us. On the way back the setting sun added a bit of colour to the previously silvery light.

Dungeness nuclear power station can be seen on the horizon to the left and further left the new and old lighthouses mark the far southeastern corner of the UK.

There is no land left of the last lighthouse yet we could see buildings and what appeared to be chimneys out at sea. One can just be seen near the left edge.

I think this was a mirage. The atmosphere was so clear that it may have been structures in France or ships on the Channel below the horizon.

Of course, after finishing the walk we called in at Unit 1 Tap Room and enjoyed a Romney Marsh Brewery Sunset Dark Ale beside a roaring log fire. Great way to end the day
