My town
Today started well with Ali and the girls coming to visit. I don't see as much as Josie just now as Ali has been coming over while Josie was in nursery . Having said that it's only 2 weeks since Bonnie was born and Josie was with us then for three days. It was a lovely visit, although I did cut Josie's toe nails for her which she was not impressed by. However a Christmas tree chocolate Angel helped her to forgive me! It's lovely to watch her with Bonnie, clearly her life has changed completely but she does love her little sister.
Ali drove me into town when she was leaving and I went to the memorial requiem mass for my friend's son. It was held in the Chapel of St Albert the Great, the University Roman Catholic Chaplaincy centre. I had seen the building before but not been in. It is a modern building, and very beautiful with the West wall made of glass looking onto woodland and, presumably as it is Epiphany season, an almost life size crib scene outdoors immediately behind the altar. It was difficult not to be distracted by the bird life outside the windows.
It was a lovely service, but must have been very hard for the family, he was younger than Katy.
After the service I walked down to Princes St for my bus, stopping off at the National Library for a coffee and scones and to unwind. As I went down the Mound I passed a rally calling for an end to the Gaza atrocities. (Extra) I stayed and listened for a while.
My Blip was taken from the Playfair Steps. I loved the combination of the straight lines of the track at Waverley Station and the architecture in the background. Three famous Edinburgh landmarks:
The Balmoral Hotel with its three minute fast clock to encourage people to get to the station on time
The Scott Monument
The Globe sculpture on top of the Forsyths Building.
I caught a bus as I arrived at the stop which was good timing and was home quickly. I felt very tired and ended up sleeping for most of the afternoon while Colin went shopping and then cooked dinner. It's been a tough week emotionally as well as physically what with the funeral, the drive to Banchory, accommodating my friend to the vet, not to mention child care.
An early night tonight was the target, but I missed. Looking forward tomorrow to going to see Eilidh's new bedroom. I've been invited!
