Sand and salt
An early breakfast then the driver collected us to go quad biking. Seemed a bit strange, being taken to a rather dodgy feeling end of town, but then we met our man ‘Johnny Cash II’(!) and he and the main guide seemed switched on and knew what was going on. We had the briefing and got togged up in the helmets and bandanas (best €5 ever spent, given the sand and dust!) then drove quickly out of that area and got into the dunes… Great fun charging around, up and down hills, along the coast and then we stopped at the huge salt pans where they’re producing hard lumps of salt. Looked like incredibly hard work pickaxing the hard crust of salt in blazing sun.
Stopped again later for a drink and went passed the zip wire setup, and through some even dustier areas, but fabulous fun and the bike went pretty fast!
Back to the hotel just in time to join the first of two zoom calls but once again the WiFi wasn’t strong enough to hold the connection. Managed eventually to get in and listened quietly for a while before it dropped out again…grr!
We went for a shower after grabbing some lunch…both absolutely filthy!…then T went to the pool whilst I tuned in to the next call…managed about 45 mins by sitting half way up the reception stairs but then it dropped me out again so I gave up.
We read our books and played some ball in the pool…managed to get a streak of 25 passes today so we’re getting better!
Back to the flat to change then sat up in the main concourse with a beer and played the new card game T taught me.Decided not to take up our booking in the ‘Japanese Peruvian fusion’ restaurant and just went to the buffet place, then sat out in the piazza with the local dancing entertainment…we’re both tired despite doing very little this afternoon!
