We seem to learn nothing much through war except how to do it better, meaner, more efficiently, more deadly. We still fight. Fight for or against. We fight to halt evil or we fight because we’re evil. And the losers outnumber the winners by orders of magnitude. The innocent, the unfortunate, the young, the old, these are all a worthy price to pay for someone else’s goal. We can make huge bombs that travel half way round the world at frightening speeds and land with pinpoint accuracy, and yet we can’t provide water or sanitation, food, safety or health for all.
