Agapanthus..

originally bought to New Zealand from South Africa as an ornamental garden plant. They do do look pretty flowering alongside many roads and highways in summer but are now considered  an invasive weed which is smothering native plants.  There are a number of areas in the country where you not allowed to plant them.
